Name: Liz Waine
Department: CityWest Direct
Job title: Operations manager

I have worked for Westminster Council and then CityWest Homes since 1988. I never imagined that I would stay so long but I have been really fortunate in having a variety of roles over the years in several different locations, including four of our village areas. This has given me the chance to develop, to face new challenges and to build up my experience.

After several years working in head office on citywide housing management issues and then the estate services brief, I was delighted to have the opportunity to return to front line service provision, initially on a secondment, in April 2010 as projects and performance manager and then on a permanent basis. In June I was appointed to the role of operations manager working in the south of the borough. I'm responsible for the performance of three of our village areas – Grosvenor, Lillington and Longmoore and Soho Covent Garden. I feel that I am encouraged to work to my strengths. The role is challenging and I am very focussed on working with the teams to provide an excellent level of service. I enjoy my role very much.

CityWest Homes has allowed me to work flexibly over the years which has helped me balance home and work, building up to now working on a full time basis. Our five company values are massively important to me, are well embedded into my working practice and underpin all that I do.
 


Name: Martyn Driscoll
Department: IT services
Job Title: IT service delivery manager

I've worked at CityWest Homes since 1994, in various roles from finance officer, business analyst and finally as IT service delivery manager.

My job involves managing a team of six staff who deal with IT incidents and service requests, and ensuring the service IT provides meets the needs of its customers. My role is an interesting mix of problem-solving, strategy and customer relationship management. I try to meet the needs of my customers within the financial, practical and security constraints that we work with. My aim is for the IT team to be recognised as not only the best customer service provider in CityWest Homes but also the best IT service in its class. CityWest Homes has given me the opportunity to develop a broad range of technical and managerial skills, from software programming to handling difficult conversations.

There are many things I like about working for CityWest Homes. It has become an organisation where good work is recognised, which gives everyone something to aspire to. Most importantly though, CityWest Homes has adopted values that everyone seems to buy into.


 

 

Name: Rowena Ng
Department: Customer services
Job Title: Senior performance officer

I joined Westminster City Council in March 1988 and have since worked at CityWest Homes since April 2002.

I work in the building and property services team as the senior performance officer. My main responsibilities include performance monitoring on voids, aids and adaptations and working in partnership with our housing providers and partners to deliver consistently high quality and responsive services to our customers.

This is a great place to work because it recognises that its employees are the greatest assets. The company has always supported me and my needs to work flexibly as a part-timer for the past 13 years. I therefore feel very privileged to be able to balance my work and family life. I work with some truly amazing and committed individuals from a diverse background who share the vision and values of this dynamic workplace.

Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try and look for better ways of working. I am really proud and delighted that CityWest Homes has made it into the Sunday Times Top 100 companies list as it is a testimony to all who are determined to learn and grow with this organisation.
