We recognise and value the diversity of our residents and staff. As an employer and landlord we must eliminate discrimination and promote equalities.
Our commitment to this is outlined in our single equality scheme which includes our equality objectives. Our action plan shows how we will make sure the commitments in the scheme are met.
Our plans for this year include increasing our involvement with young people and providing more community events on our estates.
Equality Act 2010
The Equality Act 2010 introduced nine equality groups (protected characteristics) - age, disability, gender reassignment, pregnancy and maternity, marriage and civil partnerships, race, religion or belief, sex (gender) and sexual orientation.
The Act requires us to:
- Eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation
- Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not
- Foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not.
We will complete an equality analysis at an early stage for all changes to policy, procedures or services. Equality analyses measure any effect the proposed change could have on residents or staff with protected characteristics. This will identify steps we can take to reduce or remove negative impacts.
We welcome job applications from people with a disability. If you have a disability and meet the minimum requirements of the post you are guaranteed an interview.
