A wrapped up deal for pensioners

CityWest Homes press release

A wrapped up deal for pensioners in central London

With temperatures dropping and household bills rising, many pensioners have to make tough decisions to get by in cold weather.

A new scheme has been rolled out across Westminster to support our residents through this cold snap and plan ahead for the next one. We will be prioritising older residents, those with young families or who are vulnerable.

The Warm Homes Healthy People Programme has been launched by CityWest Homes in partnership with Westminster Council.

Over the next two months staff from CityWest Homes will be visiting residents with blankets and low energy light bulbs. We will also be helping with any heating or draught repairs and providing options on energy saving.

Advice will also be available to make sure that residents are getting the best deals on energy suppliers and they are aware of eligibility for a Warm Homes Discount.

Mark Hoyland, Chief Executive of CityWest Homes, said: “We recognise that the colder months are especially tough for some of our residents. We want to continue our support to ensure they are comfortable, warm and well informed of how to get through cold weather.”

Cllr Jonathan Glanz, Westminster’s Cabinet Member for Housing and Corporate Property, said: “I’m delighted that we can provide this support to our residents to help them get through the winter months.”
