Bulbs help brighten up Queens Park

With 20kg of bulbs provided by CityWest Homes and Pinnacle PSG, parents and children recently took part in a planting bonanza around the Mozart estate in Queens Park.

Children from the Wilberforce Primary School and the Queens Park Children’s Centre got stuck in planting daffodils and tulips around trees on the estate.

As well as providing the bulbs, CityWest Homes and Pinnacle PSG provided the tools and a gardening expert to help out on the day. Councillor Barrie Taylor of the Queens Park Ward and Mary Doherty a resident representative and member of the Area Management Committee also gave a helping hand with supervising the dig and providing advice to the children on planting their bulbs.

''Many of our children who live in Queens Park attend local schools but do not have their own garden. It’s a pleasure to help them to plant bulbs in our public spaces - which will be for the benefit of all. We should ask the children to revisit their plantings in the spring”, said Councillor Barrie Taylor.

Claire Reed, Deputy Head Teacher of Wilberforce Primary School said: “Thank you to CityWest Homes and Pinnacle PSG for organising the planting which has been both fun and educational. We have taken some left over bulbs and will be having our very own planting session back at the school’.
