Maida Vale goes Latin for the day

A small piece of Latin America came to Maida Vale estate on the 1 September, for their fifth annual Fun day. This year salsa dancing was the top of the bill, in a day packed with fun activities for all ages.

The Fun day was given a grand opening by deputy Lord Mayor of Westminster, Councillor Jan Prendergast. Darren Levy, director of customer services, then presented Councillor Prendergast and Kay McCormack, the Chair of the Residents’ Association, with a bouquet of flowers for all their dedication and hard work in the community.

Residents then enjoyed free salsa classes, face painting and relaxing live music to while away the sunny afternoon. Kids could also enjoy football games while George Redway, a local Cordon Bleu Chef, provided tasty chicken and fresh fruit punch all afternoon.

“Everyone had a really great time!” said William Ochola, housing manager, Maida Vale estate office. “It was good for the staff and local residents to get away from the usual formal meetings and have some fun.”

The event was organised by Montserrat Fas, village manager at Maida Vale estate office, with the help of the estate office team. They also received sponsorship from Pinnacle PSG, the Maida Vale Residents Association, Linbrooks and Bouygues - Building Schools for the Future. The Safer Neighbourhood Team provided a genuine ‘Squad car’ at the event which entertained visitors of all ages.

A big thank you goes out to everyone who worked so hard to create a fantastic event for the local community.
