Solar panels are here
Taking advantage of the latest sunny spell, CityWest Homes revealed the first of their solar panel installations at the Amberley estate in Little Venice.
The roof of Downfield Close, a five-storey block off the Harrow Road, now holds 114 panels, capable of generating up to 21.6 kilo watts of power - which equates to 180,000 hours of television per year or boiling a kettle 212,000 times per year.
The solar panels will help residents save money off the cost of their service charges as they feed electricity to the building's communal areas during the day. This means using the sun's rays to power lights, lifts and door entry systems.
Next week, installations on the roofs of three more blocks on the estate (Barnwood, Aldswoth and Clearwell Houses) will be completed. Work will then begin to install solar panels on Westbourne Park's Brunel estate in early February.
By the end of February, CityWest Homes expects to have installed 30 blocks with solar panels, capable of generating a massive 350 kilo watts of power.
