We encourage residents to get involved in making decisions
about how their homes are managed. The Resident
Involvement team offers practical advice, financial assistance
and support to residents who are keen to get involved.
The important part in this process is that it is the Residents
who choose the level of involvement. Most people take the first
step by forming a Residents' Association or by taking part in
Focus Groups. Others have decided to carry out the job themselves
through Local Management Agreements or have taken
full control of the housing service by becoming a Tenant Management Organisation.
Whichever level you decide upon, the links detailed below will
give you all the information you need on Participation initiatives
operated by CityWest Homes.
Residents Associations
Around 60% of our Estates / Blocks are represented by a
Residents' Association. A strong and active Residents' Association
can find solutions to problems, ensure that your voice is heard and
campaign for improvements in your area. You can find out here if
your estate or block has a Residents' Association or simply find out
more general information.
Local Management Agreements (LMAs)
Local Management Agreements enable residents to take on
responsibility for services such as window cleaning, gardening,
estate cleaning or minor repairs. You can find more
information on LMAs here.
Support & Development
The Resident Involvement team also runs a number of free
training courses. They are open to all residents, but are aimed
mainly at those who are involved with Residents' Associations,
Residents' / Housing Panel and Tenant Management
Organisations.
Tenant Management Organisations (TMOs)
Tenant Management Organisations (TMOs)
Do you ever think you could do a better job than the Council
at managing your home? Legislation, which came into force on 1
April 1994 gave council residents the 'Right to Manage' their own
homes by setting up a Tenant Management Organisation (TMO). There
are currently 14 TMOs in Westminster with a further one in
development. You can find out more information on TMOs here.
