What are residents' community compacts?
Compacts are about improving local housing services. Residents
agree with their village manager and CityWest Homes what services
they would like to see improved over the coming year. And this year
we have expanded them to include opportunities for residents on
employment, health and education as well.
What sort of thing do they deal with?
Some examples from this year's compacts are -
- Security (roll out Good Neighbour Agreements)
- Make estates greener (supporting residents to grow plants and vegetables)
- Improve communication between estate staff and residents (make sure information on block notice boards is up to date)
- Rubbish disposal (making sure that people know how they can get rid of bulky rubbish and what they can recycle)
The Compacts listed below were negotiated with residents for the period April 2009 to March 2010.

Who decides if the compacts are working?
You do. You can review your local compact by becoming a
- resident inspector or a mystery shopper
- by completing mini local surveys or questionnaires at local events
- by completing the annual survey or six-monthly feedback forms
What's the City-wide compact?
The City-wide compact looks at some on the main issues
City-wide compact
identified
in the local compacts and explains how these will be dealt
with across Westminster. The issues are -
- security
- repairs
- major works consultation
- sub-let flats
- communication
- energy efficiency
Residents helped set up the compact (which runs from
2008-2013), and monitor progress each year.
What are themed compacts?
A small group of residents, for example, from one or two
blocks, may agree a compact with their village manager and CityWest
Homes about a particular issue.
