If you remove a carpet and replace it with a hard wood, laminate or ceramic floor neighbours will hear more noise.

From 1 September 2008 residents have had to get our written permission to lay this type of flooring.

Any lessee who bought after January 2006 and who wishes to install a laminate or wooden floor should check whether their lease specifically requires them to install a high quality acoustic underlay to the Council’s satisfaction.

Remember- creating an unreasonable amount of noise could mean enforcement action being taken under the terms of the tenancy or lease.
