Ways to pay my rent
Rent can be paid by direct debit, standing order, swipe card, One Stop services, over the phone or online. Please note that we are no longer issuing girobooks.
Paying by direct debit
Direct debit is the easiest and most convenient way to pay for residents who have a bank or building society current account. Monthly direct debits can be set up for:
- housing rent and charges (on the 1st, 7th, 14th or 24th of the month)
- garages, parking bays and sheds (on the 1st, 7th, 14th or 24th of the month)
- service charges and major works (24th of the month only)
Tenants can download a form to set up a direct debit here or obtain a form from their estate office. Leaseholders can call Lessee Services on 020 7245 2144 to request a direct debit form.
Paying by standing order
Setting up a standing order is a simple way of paying rent for tenants with a bank account or a building society account. Request a form from your bank or building society, fill it out, send it back and they will make the payments automatically.
If the rent changes, do advise the bank or building society.
Paying by rent payment card
A rent payment card is a plastic card which holds a tenants rent reference number and the council's banking details. The rent payment card can be used to pay rent at any Post Office or PayPoint outlet.
There are PayPoint outlets in a number of local shops and garages in Westminster. They often stay open longer hours than Post Offices and on Sundays. PayPoint outlets only accept cash and card.
Paying by card
CityWest Homes have looked at a number of ways to make it easier for you to pay and we now provide chip and pin machines in the area service centres and at Church Street and Lillington and Longmoore estate offices. We hope to introduce chip and pin machines in other offices. You can also pay online in area service centres and Church Street estate office or over the phone to a member of staff at any estate office.
If you have any questions about the changes or if you need any advice on the best payment option for you, please contact your local estate office.
Paying over the telephone
Payments can be made at any time by using our automated voice response system on 020 7823 2601. Calls to this service are charged at the local rate.
This is an automated service and needs to be made from a touch tone phone with the rent reference number and payment details to hand.
Payments made before 5pm on a working day will appear on the rent account the same day. Payments made after 5pm will appear the following working day.
Payments can also be made by speaking to a trained rents officer at an estate office who can take payment by debit or credit card over the telephone. This service is only available during office hours.
Paying online
Payments can be made on the CityWest Homes secure website with a payment reference number and bank card. Payments made before 6pm on a working day will normally show on the rent account the following working day. You can also pay online at a self-service kiosk in area service centres and in Church Street estate office.
