CityWest Homes welcomed north Westminster residents to Health Matters Day, a free community event to promote health and wellbeing in the local area.

Health Matters Day was an opportunity for residents to be inspired by health and wellbeing experts and meet their Community Health Champions to find out more about the projects they are working on in the area. Residents also signed up to community groups and received free health check-ups.

A smoothie-making bike also made an appearance with residents cycling their way to fitness whilst getting their five-a-day! CityWest Homes’ resident engagement team collected residents' Westminster memories as part of the heritage project celebrating local history.

Community Health Champion, Lizzie Fletcher said: “Health Matters Day has been a brilliant opportunity to get to catch up with other local services and spread important health and wellbeing messages.

“We showcased a number of health and wellbeing projects that our community champions are running in Queens Park at the event, including our weekly Parent and Baby Drop-ins. Some of our Junior Community Champions were even there to test out our brand new Junior Smoothie Bike!

“We hope that we can inspire more residents to get involved, volunteer and make a difference to their communities.”

CityWest Homes Director of Shared Services, Jo Bowles, said: “Health Matters Day has been a great way for us to raise awareness of health and wellbeing services available to residents.

We recognise the importance of creating strong healthy communities and that’s why it is so important for us to continue working with, and supporting, local health organisations and volunteers."

Thank you to our residents who braved the cold to pop along and to Healthy Hearts, Kick-It, Sickle Cell Society, Real Action, Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust and the Community Health Champions.

Health Matters Day was attended by local residents, health and wellbeing services and CityWest Homes’ staff. It took place on Saturday 3 March, 12-3pm, at St Jude's Community Hall, 69 Ilbert Street, Queens Park Estate, Paddington, 3pm
