CityWest Homes supports young residents to find apprenticeships

Young residents in Westminster are discovering apprenticeships through CityWest Homes’ free employment service.

The employment service provides advice on writing CVs, interview preparation and helps with job searches.

All Westminster residents 16 years old and above can access this service run by a dedicated team at CityWest Homes, funded by CityWest Residential.

Thanks to long term partnerships with contractors, CityWest Homes can offer apprenticeships and employment opportunities to young Westminster residents.

The CityWest Homes’ team also visits youth groups and community centres to let young residents know about the opportunities available in Westminster.

Mahdi, aged 19, sought help from the employment team at the Churchill Youth Club in Pimlico. He landed an apprenticeship with Precision Lifts, who monitor the Lift services, maintenance and repairs for CityWest Homes.

Mahdi said, “I am really enjoying the apprenticeship with Precision Lifts, it’s a great company to work for and I am gaining so many skills. I’ve always enjoyed working with my hands, I’ve never been the office type.

“The managing director at Churchill Gardens community centre mentioned the apprenticeship scheme to me. It sounded interesting so I contacted the employment service and here I am today!

“I’ve also applied to start a NVQ in autumn. It’s a career path and in 5 years’ time I see myself in a Lift Engineering role.”
