Scams are forever changing and during the festive season they become more common.

A resident of a housing association was conned out of thousands of pounds after responding to a phone call about rent arrears. The tenant withdrew money from the bank and handed it over to the conman. This crime is now being investigated by the housing association and the Police.

We would like to remind you that our staff will not contact you and demand cash from you.  All of our offices are cashless.

If you receive a phone call from other companies demanding money, or your bank details, we advise that you verify who they are.  Never take the direct word from someone who has called you before parting ways with any money.

To ensure you do not become a victim, please note all CityWest Homes appointed contractors will make an appointment with you prior to visiting your home.  All our contractors carry and will show you their ID. They will also wait whilst you verify their ID. They will not ask you for money to carry out work to your home. If you wish to verify any CityWest Homes staff or contractor, please call customer services on 0800 358 3783.

Action Fraud advises people to be wary of any unsolicited phone calls, especially when they ask for your personal or financial details.

If you would like to report a suspected scam, you can call the non-emergency Police line on 101 or report online at www.met.police.uk/ro/report/ocr/how-to-report-a-crime/ (opens new window)
